Oh man it's been a while! Life has been pretty distracting!

Blargh, school is starting in a week and the end of summer is nearing :(

On the upside, The Office, How I Met Your Mother, and Pushing Daisies are returning, and this makes me v. happy :)

HMMM. SO.

Remember that one zombie comic that I talk about so seldom that I whenever I bring it up I start with "Remember that one zombie comic" ?

Well, for the past however long I have been saying to myself. Self, I really want to make that ridiculous, self indulgent zombie comic, but this whole plot thing is being a real skank ho. Also, I am kindof lazy.

Then earlier today my other self was all, Screw plot! Let's draw someone headbutting a zombie!

And I was like OKAY!

Still debating on using purples for blacks. I think I'd have to color the page as a whole to get a feel for it. I think I might nix it. Or make the purple darker. Or just make the black black and use purple for the highlights.

Blargh, I hate coloring a lot.

Plus one random doodle. Perhaps later I will put up character sheets.

So I was thinking about Dr. Horrible, and how after watching it a couple more times I was feeling less and less sorry for Billy. I mean his story is tragic and I'm still sympathetic, but at the same time his whole downfall is all because of his selfish and poor decisions. Which leads us to the thing that bugs me the most about Billy. I mean he talks about wanting to be with Penny and how much he loves her, but then he gets his chance to actually talk to her (and not stalk her from the bushes while taking photos) and blows it off to be Doctor Horrible. While saying his reason for being Dr. Horrible is for social change and to get Penny to notice him. But then, he blows his chance at doing both by ignoring Penny and her petition? Clearly the things he's saying aren't really on par with what he wants. It seems to me he's being selfish and petty like all the people he hates and wants to change. But he does have second thoughts, which in the grand scheme of things don't matter much, but they do let me see a possible happy ending.

See I think the cool thing about Dr. Horrible is that I can see it going both ways, I mean I'm a fan of good tragic storyarcs but I also really like happy endings, and with Dr. Horrible, I can imagine a cliched happy ending somehow involving Penny saving him with love and frozen yogurt, teaching him the power of good and awesome while still being able to just as easily imagine a creepy tragic Dr. Horrible mad scientist ruling the world and killing people because he hates the world ending.

And also the Penny dumps Captain Hammer and Billy and goes off and does her own thing happy ending because omg Penny = most awesome.

Damnit Dr. Horrible, you make me think much more than I should about a 45 minute web show.

Billy and Penny being cute. Uhm. They are sitting on the folding clothes table. Or, they would be, had I not been too lazy to draw it

Also, ever since watching Dr. Horrible, I have been noticing a lot of people being in love with Joss Whedon. I am embarrassed to say that I did not really know who he was until I did a little research. I did not know he wrote Toy Story! So because of this I started watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer on hulu. I'm on the fifth episode of season one and so far it is ridiculous 90's vampire fun.

Is there anything I should be warned about? Like a stop watching after season x because x happens and you will be sorry kindof thing? Because I mean, there are seven seasons, and if tv has taught me anything it's given enough running time shows can get pretty bad.

Ugh, school. Mine starts up in about a month. D: I DON'T WANT TO THINK ABOUT IT.

(yaaaay The Office!)

Self, I really want to make that ridiculous, self indulgent zombie comic, but this whole plot thing is being a real skank ho.
BEST LINE EVER. SERIOUSLY. Sometimes, all you need is some Zombie butt-kicking action! Plot? What plot? (If you need any help, btw, juuuust ask.)

I AM EXTREMELY INTERESTED IN YOUR ZOMBIE COMIC. THE DOODLES LOOK AMAAAAZING. If I'm remembering correctly, I kind of liked the purple lines. They just... fit.

I feel behind! Why have I not seen Dr. Horrible yet? WHY, SELF?

ME NEITHER. :(

(Office <3333)

HAHA Y THANK YOU. True story! (omg I totally just might, I have like, a couple ideas, but they are pretty stupid! (which I suppose is par for the course with a zombie comic BUT STILL!))

HEEEEE, THANK YOU <3 Hmm, you know, I think you're right re: purple. I remember having them purple because I wanted omg bright color zombie comic, and I did like it. PERHAPS I SHOULD JUST DRAW MORE AND SEE. Although haha I doubt I'll be able to color many pages!

WHY INDEED??

OH MY GOD! MY WINDOW!
SPLAT! SPLORK! HAT! HIT!

Ahahahahahahaha ILU. No need for a plot with such an abundance of random hilarity and asskickery.

Eating yogurt with sporks is the best ever. (So is Penny.) <3

re: Buffy
It's been years since I watched it so I don't remember all of the many upsetting things that end up happening. But, if I recall correctly, I really started losing interest at the beginning of season five, when something crazy happens that changes the entire show.

Although, if you're at all interested in experiencing the incredible Buffy musical episode "Once More With Feeling" then I'd recommend holding on as long as you can stand it.

Haha thanks!

Dude frozen yogurt + sporks = love. I've had an unhealthy love for frozen yogurt for years. (Oh Penny <3)

Ooh, I'll keep that in mind, though haha omg musical episode? If I do lose interest before that I'll definitely just have to look it up!

re: Dr Horrible: I agree.

...I had no idea Joss wrote Toy Story.

ALSO RE: BUFFY. Oh god season seven is horribly flawed, but there area few steller episodes. And the ending kicks ass. Also: watch Angel so you can draw me Fred/Wes - I mean because it's delightful. And Firefly is arguably his strongest work.

As for the other seasons:
one: IT HOLDS A SPECIAL PLACE IN MY HEART. But um yeah. It's honestly not nearly as good as the rest.
two: MY SUPER SPECIAL FAVORITEST. The season kicks total ass. There are about two episodes that aren't that great (but they're still fun), but I don't think the overall show ever had a stronger season. My kink for contrast of sweetness and light to dark fuckedpness informs that.
three: this one has the strongest season, period. I can't remember an episode that wasn't good, even if two affected me more. EXCEPT DEAD MAN'S PARTY. MARTI NOXON.
four: you can tell the show was in transition, but it was still adorable. and Willow/Tara = OTP.
five: I think this is the strongest season post-high school. Buffy grows up so much, and her slow break down starting from the end of season one really kicks into gear.
six: flawed, but I've never seen a show tackle depression so well. And god the last four episodes? STELLER. And the finale still rips me open and breaks me up because it's so terribly bittersweet and human.

I'll have to check out Angel and Firefly (and haha isn't Captain Hammer the main character in Firefly? I am sure this will make me lol inappropriately in a good way)

Thanks very much for the season breakdowns!

*is looking forward to seasons 2 +3*

Yes! Though Mal is much more likable than Captian Hammer. :P

SEASON TWO AND THREE FTW

I am probably the only person on the planet who is SUPER!excited to go back to school. I miss all my collegiate friends.

The end of Dr. Horrible originally made me sad, but then I had the same thought process you had. My love for Joss Whedon goes back to middle school. You should check out the Buffy musical episode when you're further into the story because the style is very similar to Dr. Horrible.

I can't wait for TV to start up again since all of the show runners are promising me a return to season 1 awesomeness after a sucky season 2 (I'm looking at you Heroes and Ugly Betty *shakes fist*) Pushing Daisies is so awesome. Did you see The Fall? Lee Pace is pure sexy goodness in it, plus the whole visual package is MINDBLOWING.
April: ned and chuck. they are ADORABLE.[info]a_dinglehopper on August 18th, 2008 05:15 am (UTC)
Haha it's pretty funny, strangely enough when I was little I REFUSED to miss any school ever. But now, it is quite a different story! I am unable to explain this.

Oh yeah I definitely plan on checking out the musical, the fact it is similar to Dr. H is a bonus.

I have not seen The Fall, though I just read the synopsis on wiki, it sounds pretty interesting (and sexy Lee Pace is certainly a bonus!) I'll have to check it out!
